The laughter lounge Dublin
So as a comedy virgin, I had never been to one of these comedy shows in my life and I was so excited for the one last night in the laughter lounge. It was great, funny and really entertaining to say the least. Some of the comedians were hilarious while others weren't that good.
The comedians
The show kicked off with Karl Spain - who I didn't know til very recently. He had the show about finding himself a wife! He was great Craic, interacting and teasing the audience. I would have been mortified if he said something about me! He was basically slagging off a couple people in this audience - a Spanish woman, a bunch of Scottish lads and a Canadian guy and then flirting with a group of young girls who were seated right in front of the stage.
The best act by far was a band called "Totally Wired". I was laughing the whole time with them, they popped up on stage, both very awkward and carrying a guitar. They belted out a few comedy songs and we were all laughing. They did a rendition of "wheels on the bus" slagging off everyone on the bus from southsiders to Polish passengers and even the bus driver! I was laughing so music during their entire performance! They did a couple more songs, one featuring gay best friends, sex faces and a few other bits and bobs!
The comedian after that, sorry I didn't manage to catch his name, was a bit nervous and awkward! He was totally distracted by the girls in the front and he spent most of his act, saying he's distracted and he's a scripted comedian and all that. He was a bit poo altogether!
Ian Coppinger came on last and I think he was one of the more well know ones! He's often described as one of Irelands busiest comedians. He used to write script for father ted and he was in a few other tv productions. He made loads of jokes about his height - he's like 5'2! And he really got the crowd moving.
My fav joke
My fav joke was by Ian about fruit! He said irish people just buy fruit, stick it in the fruit bowl then wait for it to go off and dump it out! This always happens in my house anyway... He said Australians, the lunatics, actually eat fruit from the trees like! Imagine that :p
The Venue
Classic comedian brick wall, the space though is cosy! There's a nice bar at the end and loads of seating. Chairs are plastic and a bit crammed together so if you have long legs, you might want to arrive early to get a good seat otherwise you'll be holding your legs in the whole night! Another good thing is there's regular intervals betweens the acts so you've a bit of time to get a drink or whatever.
Pricing
I think tickets are about €25 for unreserved seating. Prices go up when you want to book tables etc and you can book them online - www.laughterlounge.com
