Hi dolls! So delighted to announce I'll be writing a weekly fashion and beauty article for Today.ie, a buzzing Irish website with everything from news to entertainment, sports and now beauty! I'll be pumping the articles starting from next week! You can check them out at Southdublin.today.ie
In the meantime, I did a 10 questions Q&A! Read it here dolls:
How did you get involved in health and beauty? Was it always an interest for you?
Some of us were born beautiful and the rest of us needed a little makeup to enhance our natural beauty. I think I fell into the second category and I was always a beauty addict, even as a child I loved nothing more than going through my grandmothers makeup bag! I was so amazed at the beautiful colours and products she had and I wanted to have all the same and now I have a house full of makeup!
Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging summer 2013 after I had finished college and I applied for a job with L'Oreal, which I unfortunately didn't get but got very close (In the final two and omg it was my dream job!). So I was so gutted that I didn't get it and wanted to do something beauty related so I built the website and starting writing DITA TIME blog (www.ditatime.ie) and I'm delighted how far it's come now!
Do you have your preferred brands?
My makeup bag contains a huge mix of brands but overall I do have a few favourites. Some are high street and some high end. I adore Chanel and YSL! To me, their products are always top notch, luxurious quality, indulgent smells and packaging but they are a little expensive. I do have some favourite pharmacy brands as well and these are Revlon and Bourjois which I find are real value for money.
In terms of diet and fitness, how do you keep yourself in shape?
Healthy body, healthy mind, happy life - that's my motto! Fitness is so important and I try to go to the gym 3/4 times a week and I jog. As for my diet, I'm a big fan of the mono food diet. I also try to avoid chocolate and fast food because it really messes up your skin. I know it's hard sometimes trying to find the time to exercise but even going out walking in the evenings for 30mins makes such a difference and I'd recommend everyone to try get that little bit more active!
What message do you want to aim to get across to your readers?
You are beautiful, your life is precious, your time is limited but you are limitless. If there's something you want, go get it, if there's somewhere you want to go, just do it. Don't let anyone stomp on your dreams. Ambition and intelligence are everything. Believe in yourself and you'll get far. It's all about the right positive attitude. Be the best person you can be and do what makes you happy! #yolo ;)
Who are your inspirations?
People talk about inspiring people all the time and they always mention celebrities and if I had to name a few I'd say Angeline Jolie and Oprah. I'm all for strong, smart women, but the person who I'm most inspired by was my great grandmother. She was just an amazing woman, with a really big heart, really beautiful, generous and kind.
What makes someone beautiful?
Nothing. Every woman is born beautiful. Some of us just need a little makeup, clothes and a smile. When someone's happy inside and out they're beautiful and you can see it written all over their face. That said, no amount of Chanel makeup can cover up an ugly personality. Beauty comes from the inside.
What are your fashion pet peeves?
I'm sure there's a list of them! Let's start with PJs as outerwear, man bags, loose hippy clothes, boot cut jeans, dirty shoes, non matching socks and low hanging jeans!
Where do you hope to see yourself in a year?
In a years time I hope to have expanded my blog in Ireland and internationally. As well as that I aim to have launched my makeup line, which I'm working on at the moment, into stores and pharmacies. It's very close to my heart and it'll be an amazing collection of affordable, high quality, fashion forward products with precious ingredients and dazzling colours for all women around the world to use and love and I'm so excited about it!
Anything else you’d like to add?
One of my favourite fashion quotes: "Don't be into trends. Don't make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and the way to live.” —Gianni Versace
