Have I got a lovely ladies day post for you today!
I was lucky enough to attend The Irish Grand National, Ladies Day @ Fairy House on Monday 6th April. What a beautiful day we had between the hot weather, fashions, food & races. I reckon some people got sunburnt it was so hot that day!! It was amazing to see what everyone was wearing, some ladies really put so much effort into their outfits and they looked fantastic.
The whole day was organised by the lovely people at Branded3 + Ladbrokes who really treated us all day. I have to say a big thanks to Emily Green, Laura Crimmons and Beth Hibbert in particular for organizing everything for us! I was invited along with a few other irish fashion bloggers. I really enjoyed it, it was so much fun meeting everyone and especially placing my first bet ever. It was such a long day but it was such a laugh.
There were some fantastic hats and fascinators there like omg so pretty and custom made for the occasion. Finding the right hat for your outfit can be tough so a big recommendation from me is if you have the time, get creative and make your own. You'll have something no one else does. A hairband and a few feathers, bit of glue... Shouldnt be too hard right!?
High heels really finish off any outfit, the higher the better I think but really, the day can get very long. We were there for a solid 8 hours. Bring flats as back up. Definitely. I also saw lovely ladies wearing gorgeous summery sandals and wedges. These would be perfect for the summer races like the Galway ones here.
After the outfit, makeup was my next concern. For the long hot day we had, I opted for a long wear foundation. I wore Revlon color stay. I find this foundation stays on for hours without looking cakey or changing colour. To top it off I used the YSL powder all over. I kept it in my handbag for a few top ups during the day. At Fairy House they had a hair/makeup stand where you could pop in for a quick fix. This was fantastic.
Package deals are fantastic. We were absolutely spoilt with food and wine @ BobbyJo bistro . We indulged in a 4 course meal and then we had a lovely afternoon tea. Excellent view of the track and it was wonderful to have a big table to ourselves so we could go watch the horses and then retreat for some wine and chats. I'd definitely get a package deal if I was going again.
I've no real tips to share here so I'd recommend go to Ladbrokes. As you'll see yourself its very much the luck of the draw. Two big names to look out for are AP McCoy and Ruby Walsh. Betting on favorites won't get you much bang for your buck as I saw when I won 50c on a horse! Ladbrokes gives you good odds + returns so bet with them. "Each Way" bets are the way to go if you're a novice like myself. Its very fun, give it a go!
What did you get up to over the weekend?
Love, Dita Xx
